Professor Michael Kearns to Speak at the Ben Taskar Memorial Distinguished Lecture
On Thursday, May 2, Professor Michael Kearns will present “The Ethical Algorithm” as the featured speaker of this year’s Ben Taskar Memorial Distinguished Lecture.
Kearns is a professor in the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania. His talk is based on the forthcoming book, The Ethical Algorithm, co-authored with Aaron Roth (Oxford University Press, 2019). Kearns will discuss developments in machine learning, artificial intelligence, differential privacy and socially aware algorithmic design.
The annual event is co-sponsored by the Taskar Center for Accessible Technology and the Paul G. Allen School for Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. Kearns’ talk will take place at the Bill and Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering from 3:30-4:30pm May 2, followed by a reception. Information and directions are available here.
